History

Martin Luther Christian School first opened its doors in 1950.  The school began with just first and second grades. Children from the neighborhood as well as children from Martin Luther Chapel attended. Each year the school grew and added a grade.

The school prides itself on providing a Christ centered learning environment in a safe and nurturing setting.

Graduates proudly attend area public, private, parochial and charter schools.

Since 2005 we have had the privilege to be a part of the Martin Luther Christian School (MLCS) family.  Our 3 children passed through MLCS. At the time of selecting a school for our children, we looked for a vision/mission statement that reflected our Christian values; MLCS was a perfect match. We wanted to place our children in a safe and secure environment conducive to learning and to spiritual development.

The MLCS staff strictly adheres to the values of the entity and demonstrate love and care for the young ones. We have seen the teachers and other staff be active participants of activities that enable not just the standard curriculum, but also other important areas of child development such as character and decorum.

Since our family loves music and other arts, we have enjoyed the multiple programs and concerts which are scheduled throughout the year. We never underestimate the didactic function of art. This is probably one of the most distinctive characteristics of MLCS. From crafts to plays to exhibitions to choir and other fun activities, our children have grown and been influenced in a positive way by MLCS.

Our children’s academic development is on par with the standards of this age. We have seen that MLCS’ application of technology (e.g., SmartBoard, computers and internet) facilitate learning and spark passion and enthusiasm for knowledge. In the morning, our children actually want to go to school to learn and meet their friends. – A Parent

I’ve been a teacher at this great school for close to 6 years, and am amazed at the experience offered the students by the teachers and their abundant knowledge and enthusiasm towards teaching their students. Yes, we have small classes, which allows us to teach on a more individual level, focusing on the needs of each student. We have up to date technology – Smartboards and Chrome books, which we use often to further enhance the curriculum. Please take a look at MLCS! – A Teacher

There is no place in the world like my school. When I enter, the school floor is clean and pretty. It smells like cherry soda ice cream pop. My school is a special school. Some of the classes are very small with a few kids. My school has a lot of nice teachers and students. I love MLCS. My school is fun, cheerful and, and all the kids are nice and fun. – A Student

Great school! Great people! The faculty and staff create a loving environment that is like family. I was blessed to have my children attend MLCS! They always looked forward to going to school every day. The teachers are super and care about each child. My mind was at ease knowing that my children were in a God center school everyday. If I could do it all again, I wouldn’t change a thing and MLCS would still be my first choice in schools. God bless everyone at this school. – A Former Parent

This is a great learning environment where I feel my child is safe at all times. The technology used at MLCS is up to date and gives my kids a chance to acquire new skills. The large playground is clean and safe and the kids get the opportunity to play during recess. The teachers and staff are caring and sharing the love of God with every student. My family and I love MLCS!- A Parent
